San Francisco vacation rentals in Union City, CA, is within walking distance to a local strip mall where you will find Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, New York Pizza, and several fast-food restaurants, and a sushi bar. You will also find two fairly large Asian grocery stores where, among other things, you can buy fresh fish (and have it fried, too!).

About a mile away is Union Landing, a 100-acre shopping complex, with various restaurants (from coffee shops to fast-food restaurants to sushi bars), movies, groceries, Wal-Mart, etc. There, you will also find In-N-Out, Buffalo Wild Wings, Texas Roadhouse, Tony Romas, Tomatina, Chilli’s, TGI Friday, Fuddruckers, Chipotle, IHOP, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, etc..

The house is one block from a park with access to free tennis and basketball courts. The area has the best schools in Union City, including the award-winning Delaine Eastin Elementary School, where our twin daughters used to go, which is about 2 miles to the south.

Kaiser Permanente, a big hospital, is less than 2 miles from our vacation home rental in Union City CA.

Whether you are walking or on a bicycle, you have a vast area to cover, even for the whole day, just enjoying nature and the outdoors.

Lake Elizabeth is just 10 miles away from us, if you enjoy walking around this beautiful lake and meeting locals. Also, Lake Chabot Golf Course is 20 miles to the north, Bay Area’s best golf value in an expansive layout. To the south, you have Great America Amusement Park and Levi’s Stadium, all within about 20 miles. Take 92 West and it will take you straight to Half Moon Bay beaches and restaurants, an absolute delight to be away from it all.

Palo Alto CA is just 10 miles from our vacation home rentals Union City, home to Stanford University, and one of the upscale neighborhoods in the San Francisco Bay Area. Make sure you stop by one of many excellent cafes and restaurants in downtown Palo Alto CA. On the way to Palo Alto, you will also pass Facebook Headquarters in Menlo Park CA. You will see massive buildings housing one of the Bay Area’s most famous companies.

If you go further south, you will find Mountain View CA, home to Google headquarters. Then further south there are cities such as Cupertino CA, Sunnyvale CA, and San Jose CA, homes to hundreds of well-known tech companies, including Apple, Intel, Microsoft, and Cisco Systems. All in about 20 miles from us…

The Great City of San Francisco CA

A lot of things to do…

The city of San Francisco CA is about 30 miles to the north. You can drive there along the I880 North or just take the BART train from a station just 4 miles from us. There are a whole lot of things to do in San Francisco CA. You spend days and still come short. Most popular attractions include the breathtaking Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf  (with lots of shops and restaurants), Chinatown (the largest China market outside China), ferry to Alcatraz (famous former prison island), Cable Cars (gracing the city center), and Ferry Building (hanging around) – just to name a few.

Be prepared to be patient with the parking situation in San Francisco CA. There is a lot of parking on the streets but you may have to drive around a bit. They are mostly card operated so you don’t need to carry a lot of coins. There are also large underground parking places throughout the city for around $20 per day. You will just have to find one that is closest to the area you will be hanging around for much of the day. Once that is taken care of, you can just relax and hit the streets going from to place.

Napa Valley CA, the Wine Country

Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Napa County CA

Napa Valley is north of San Francisco California, home to hundreds of vineyards on a long stretch of land. You will drive up there and start sampling wine, hopping from one vineyard to another, until you are just tired at the end of the day. Enjoy the serenity of the small farm towns along the way, truly refreshing. The entire place is known for hundreds of hillside vineyards in the Napa Valley wine region. North of Napa are Yountville and Calistoga, to name a few, towns known for high-end restaurants and sparkling wine.

Napa Valley winery area is about 60 miles from our vacation home in Union City CA. I880 North, followed by I80 East, and then CA-29 North will take you there. A good portion of the ride is on smaller highways that you will travel on, enjoying the scenery of the beautiful countryside of Napa County.
